Located just over two hours east of Mel­bourne, Welling­ton Shire in the heart of Gipp­s­land is the third largest munic­i­pal­ity in Vic­to­ria. With an area of over 11000 square kilo­me­tres, Welling­ton Shire hosts some of Victoria’s great­est nat­ural beauty along­side a boom­ing indus­trial and agri­cul­tural indus­try.

The Welling­ton Shire is a key agri­cul­tural pro­ducer, with fer­tile soils, abun­dant water for irri­ga­tion and estab­lished trans­port links to mar­kets. It is home to major indus­tries in diverse fields such as avi­a­tion, oil and gas, agri­cul­ture, forestry and pro­fes­sional ser­vices.

The diver­sity of the Welling­ton Shire is astound­ing. Cov­er­ing an expanse that reaches from the rugged high coun­try to one of the longest beaches in the World, the region has a stag­ger­ing array of land­scapes.  Also includ­ing the Gipp­s­land Lakes and numer­ous other National Parks, the Welling­ton Shire has a bounty of wildlife, his­tor­i­cal attrac­tions, unique wilder­ness and fine food and wine.

The shire has a res­i­den­tial pop­u­la­tion of over 40000, sit­u­ated mainly in the larger towns of Sale, Maf­fra, Hey­field, Rosedale, Strat­ford and Yarram. It offers access to a mul­ti­tude of diverse land­scapes and caters for a wide range of recre­ational and leisure inter­ests.
